Optimized Process Monitoring with SPOT+ in ibaPDA

As a partner of both AMETEK Land and iba AG, Begner is proud to present a newly expanded process connectivity feature in the iba system. Through a collaborative effort, high-resolution temperature data from AMETEK Land’s SPOT+ pyrometers can now be seamlessly integrated into ibaPDA for comprehensive analysis and monitoring.

For industries like metal, aluminum, and paper, where high temperatures and energy consumption are key factors, precise temperature measurement is critical. In steel production, for example, workpieces must be heated to over 1300°C—a challenging environment for surface temperature measurements, especially during high-speed rolling processes. AMETEK Land’s SPOT+ infrared pyrometers provide reliable, non-contact temperature readings in these demanding conditions, including liquid metal processing, aluminum, and steel coating applications.

Thanks to the new interface with ibaPDA, these precise temperature measurements can now be analyzed alongside other process data, allowing for direct correlations between temperature, workpiece conditions, and product quality. This enhanced data integration unlocks optimization potential across the production process, providing valuable insights for increasing efficiency and preventing defects, such as coating errors.

By transmitting high-resolution temperature data via HTTPS, the SPOT+ pyrometers offer real-time insights, enabling automatic process adjustments. With an interface license for ibaPDA, temperature data from an unlimited number of SPOT+ pyrometers can be captured, covering a broad temperature range from 0°C to 3500°C. These pyrometers are integral to processes in aluminum production, steelmaking, paper manufacturing, and more.
